It really is an adventure trying to live the Christian life in this world, isn't it? On one hand, we get to enjoy all of the blessings that the world has to offer—the beauty of nature, the excitement of developing our talents, even the enjoyment of delicious foods.
But at the same time, we have to be careful that we are not embracing some of the philosophies that are in this world. For instance, while we should take pride in our worldly accomplishments, we need to be on guard so that we don’t find our true dignity or worth from what we can do.
It’s a bit of a balancing act, being in the world but not of the world, and that challenge comes to mind when we look at the call of the gospel to live by faith. For there are many misconceptions about faith in the world, and it’s not hard for them to find their way into our thoughts. This was an awesome article. It helped me understand my faith more clearly. Prayer is an integral part of my life, and it was so interesting to see how coming to Jesus in prayer begins the cycle of revelation, deeper faith, deeper surrender and greater desire to deeper prayer. It comes full circle, starting with prayer and ending with prayer. Although I was aware of this on a more superficial level, having these specific steps pointed out in this article helped me see God’s work in my life on a deeper level. Thank you.
I liked the way you explained that faith is a disposition and not a quantity. Sometimes I can feel as if I don’t have enough faith to face the challenges of life--as if God didn’t give me all that I need. Now I can see that it’s really a matter of me exercising the faith that God has already given me. I can’t wait to try this out!
